“She’s so stupid! She doesn’t even know how to behave in public! I hate her so much. She better quit acting and learn how to smile more!”

“Oh my god, she’s so awesome. She’s perfect, please have another oscar for your life and all the choices you make! I LOVE YOU!”

Do you see, where the problem in humanity is?

This post is about my final four photos that I got from the large format camera. I had a lot of fun with the camera because I could choose where to focus the image and it was a lot of fun to play around with. I also really enjoyed my first attempt at portraiture! I had always been wary of it but it’s actually a lot of fun.

Claudia with her angel wings.

Ilana and her fish. Color was a good option for this picture because without it, the fish would have completely faded from the image.

First sheet of film! I decided I’d try out the camera at first on objects so that I wasn’t overwhelming myself with two new projects at once.

Taylor with her umbrella. What a model!

For my event photography I took a bunch of photos of the G block dance class. The greatest challenge of working in that room is by far the lighting. It’s terrible. The aperture opens up all the way to let in as much light as possible but that means all of my photos have a very shallow depth of field. It works out for some of the pictures but not all. Also the lighting makes the coloring always very blue or yellow so the first thing I do in photoshop is mess with the color balance.

I decided to make only the hair and nails in some of the photos colored for my mini exhibit. Everyone in the class had their nails painted and their hair looked awesome so I decided to make the picture black and white except for those features. I really liked the way it made those colors pop and took out all the color from the background because the dance room was very crowded so in almost every picture you can see other people in the background. Making those people black and white makes it easier to focus on the subject of the photograph. It also solved the issue of skin tone which I had to work a lot with for these photos because of the poor lighting in the dance room.

I’ve been working on this during my free time for the past week and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it! I think I’ll keep doing this with other people’s portraits. Let me know if you want one! Also, the tutorial has a step where you draw doodles and I did that for this one but I just didn’t like the way it came out. Maybe it was just for this one that it didn’t work, but I guess we’ll see!
